It's Alive!!

More Resident Evil-ish frankenscience.

Scientists working at a British laboratory have achieved one of the most controversial breakthroughs ever made in the field of stem cell science by taking cells from dead embryos and turning them into living tissue.

The article also mentions the dead embryos' love of music and tap dancing. However, panic ensues whenever they are near a heat source. No pitchfork wielding villagers were available for comment.

I saw this in Ghostbusters II. Wake me when the Statue of Liberty starts dancing.

So after reading the article, the one argument that seems to keep cropping up is the concern over whether or not the embryo is, in fact, actually dead. Which is answered in the article:

"The team then waited 24 hours to check that the embryos were no longer dividing before beginning their experiments. 'These were all deemed to be arrested embryos,' said Stojkovic. 'In other words, they were dead. [But] they had the capacity to develop any different type of cell you could think of, including kidney cells, liver cells, and skin cells."

But even after the answer is supplied, the question keeps popping up. So we have Dr. Frankenstein and zombies. What do they expect? Maybe we should try to revive these embryos. Hang on, I'll go get the adrenaline and the shock paddles while you intubate the, uh... cells.

Ghostbusters II?? what were you thinking?

Say what you will about the plot, story, and overall script. But, Bill Murray is fantastic in it and has fantastic lines.

But, yeah, it stinks. Not enough Statue of Liberty dancing methinks.

Ghostbusters II is not that bad. If it were, I would have reviewed it already. Now, "Hood of the Living Dead" on the other hand, is what I'd consider bad. New review on that one out soon.
