Lucas Strikes Again

Wanyas warned us about this last week. It's just so much worse seeing it.

Now, Vader (or "Darth", as some of his closer friends like to call him) whines "Nooooo!" before he chucks the Emperor off the platform.

Do you suppose Lucas sits around thinking "Now, how can I make Anakin more of a pussy?"?

Personally, i always enjoyed watching Vader silently glance back and forth between the Emperor and Luke writhing on the ground - the silent struggle to decide what he should do. Clearly, i was wrong.

You were clearly wrong.

Watching Vader move his head without saying anything caused confusion. How, as the viewer, was I supposed to understand what he was thinking and feeling? It's not enough that he picked up the Emperor and chucked him down an air chute. Too many people may have thought it was an accident. Having Vader say, and then scream, "No!" brings it home by vocalizing his inner torment.

Now, I finally understand why he threw the Emperor down the air chute. He fundamentally disagreed with the Emperor's vision for a perfect galaxy, and desired, as he stated earlier, to rule side-by-side with his son. If his son were dead, they would never be able to rule together.

These two syllables speak volumes.

You say, "No. Nooooooooooooooo!" I say, "Yes. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!"
