One, two, three... that's ridiculous

I would personally be in favor of eliminating the world's time zones, since at my job i constantly deal with people in time zones all around the world and it gets very confusing. But i don't know how you provincials would feel about setting your alarms for 2am.

And i'm very against the idea of people all waking up and going to bed at the same time, regardless of the amount of daylight. That's going to screw with your circadian rhythms and cause all sorts of health issues.

Regardless, it seems like the answer to "Do you know how many time zones there are in the [former] Soviet Union?" will soon be "One".

this article doesn't make sense.

first it says you'd still wake up at the same time relative to the sun, but that might mean it's 2am for you.

then it goes on to say how much of a pain it is that coffee shops on the west coast have to open at 5am to sync with Wall St and how inconvenient that is.

but, how would a single time zone fix that if you go with the first premise of "i don't have to wake up at a time different to the relative height of the sun"? the coffee shops would still be opening at an inconvenient time to sync with the time Wall St opens while the rest of the west coast sleeps for a couple more hours.

also, the whole "you wake up at the same time relative to the sun" thing totally defeats the purpose of having a single time zone to help those international companies be in sync. all it saves you is having to do math. omg! it's soooooo hard to subtract one number from another. which, i know from fnord12, is quite a trial for some people, but just cause people are idiots doesn't mean we have to screw up everyone's sleep schedule to coddle them.

also also, it's bad enough getting up in the winter when it's still dark out at 6am, but at least you can tell yourself it'll be over in a few months. now you want to make that a permanent thing? pfft.

also also also, can we start with something simple like abolishing daylight savings? that makes things inconvenient and, unlike time zones, serves zero purpose.
