A rare post about wrestling

I never watched professional wrestling with any seriousness. Min and i did get into WCW during the NWO period because a friend in college was into it, but we stopped watching it again after that. I nonetheless enjoyed MightyGodKing's write up about how the WWE seems to have screwed up their Royal Rumble last night. I do think there's a lot of similarities between wrestling and superhero comics, and the fans seem to have a similar love/hate relationship with the producers. I'd also be more willing to watch wrestling if they went back to acknowledging the campiness of it more, and had more characters with names like Rowdy Roddy Piper and less like Daniel Bryan.

I preferred wrestling back then, too. Especially during the NWO and Attitude Era. I wish they'd bring it back but it's way too PG and it looks like it'll stay that way from now on. He's right about Cena. Cena's so boring but the kids love him so they'll never give him a heel turn.

WWE have a history of trying to push 'champions' onto fans and it backfiring. Whether Einstein said it or not but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. They pushed The Miz, The Great Khali, Bobby Lashley and countless others onto fans without making it happen naturally.

The Rock, Austin and Mankind happened all naturally without a push (although when they tried to push the Rock at 1st it backfired).

I think Reigns is good but let it happen naturally McMahon. Anyway, I don't watch WWE anymore as it's boring as hell when its PG.
