Captain America #216Issue(s): Captain America #216 Review/plot: At least we get a decent splash from an uncredited Cockrum and Giacoia. It's also worth noting the page count. The original 18 page story is included without any alteration (as far as i can tell). And we have the opening splash page. But when the story was originally printed in Strange Tales, a 5 page Doctor Strange story was included with it. So we are down 4 pages from 1963 comics. The page count will go back up to ~22 in 1980. A final note: the Quality Rating for entries like this is more or less meaningless. It's a perfectly fine splash page, but really what you're going to get out of this issue is based on whether or not you already have the original story. Quality Rating: D+ Chronological Placement Considerations: For the single present day page, Captain America is just wandering the street in costume, thinking about his origin. It doesn't have to take place directly after last issue or directly before next, and other Cap appearances can take place in between. References: N/A Crossover: N/A Continuity Insert? CommentsJim Shooter used to hand out copies of this issue to Marvel creators to illustrate how to tell a story. He used the Kirby story however not the splash page. Posted by: Mizark | August 2, 2016 6:44 AM Comments are now closed. |
