Jim Starlin - Plot
Jim Starlin - Layouts
Alfredo P. Alcala - Finishes

Review/plot:
This issue has Jim Starlin as a guest plotter/artist. It's not a fill-in; it is a planned guest appearance. It features the Hulk meeting two strange children living in a cave.

It turns out they are living with their little brother, who has been mutated by radioactive waste and has become a giant cannibalistic monster. It's no match for the Hulk, though.

It's a different kind of story, a little creepier and more of a horror story. Unfortunately Starlin only did layouts, and the layouts aren't really all that stylized, so this isn't really a true Starlin experience. Some of the finished art isn't all that great. Still good, though.

Chronological Placement Considerations: The Hulk starts and ends this story wondering around upstate New York. It makes sense that the Hulk might head there to get a break from hanging out with the Defenders in between the conclusion of the Xenogenisis saga in Defenders #58-60 and his return to Strange's house in #61.
