Review/plot:
I had to back away from a rant about continuity between Iron Fist stories in this book, but this story is by Joey Cavalieri and it still doesn't acknowledge the stuff from the previous story. Actually, this story is completely incoherent. It seems to start and the middle.

Iron Fist stops this Highwayman...

...and we end with some horrible puns.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: The MCP say that this is the same Highwayman that appeared in Captain Britain's early series but i don't see any evidence of that. The Appendix makes a guess that he's English, which might support the MCP, but it's based on circumstantial evidence (and the original Highwayman was no stereotypical English gentleman). All the story actually says is that he's an AIM agent.

As for Iron Fist, this story has him defending an Oracle shipment, which might suggest placement during the period where he was appearing in the Namor book. But he could also just have happened to come across the Highwayman robbing Oracle, and/or is helping Namor's company out. Since the story starts in the middle, we can assume anything we want.

Comments

The artwork in MCP has certainly declined noticeably. In the first issues, they tended to be established artists, but now I'm seeing names I don't recognize at all.

By this point MCP has long been nothing but tryouts for new guys and a dumping ground for aging inventory stories.
