Issue(s): Marvel Team-Up #126 (Son of Satan / Power Man story only)
Cover Date: Feb 83
Title: "A firm offer!"
Credits:

Review/plot:
Son of Satan and Luke Cage team-up to stop some of the Sons of Satannish.

That's about it. There's also a bit in there about one of the Sons being a former schoolteacher of Luke's.

This seems to just be a way to quickly fill a few pages to accommodate the other half of this issue. Although i can't imagine the logic behind including the Son of Satan in a book that otherwise should have been a big mainstream and little kiddie draw since the other half was Spider-Man and the Hulk. That said, it's a decent story for the amount of pages it gets.

Quality Rating: C+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place between Defenders #116-118 for Hellstorm (he's not in #117). Entirely context free for Power Man. Iron Fist is "off meditatin' in the woods somewhere".

References:

  • Hellstorm is initially down in the dumps due to the events of Defenders #116 (his spat with Hellcat).
  • Daimon and Luke know each other from Defenders #24-25.

Crossover: N/A

Continuity Insert? N

My Reprint: N/A

Inbound References (2): show

  • Defenders #118
  • Marvel Team-Up #126 (Spider-Man / Hulk)

Comments

I remember enjoying this story more than the Spidey/Hulk one. Mainly found it interesting for the interplay between such mismatched heroes. Also, unlike when Hellstrom teamed with the Human Torch and the Thing, although less so when paired with Ghost Rider(obviously) and even Howard the Duck, Luke is fairly comfortable with who/what Hellstrom is. I know they each have a connection with the Defenders, but I'd think some members might still feel uneasy around him.
