Motormouth #4 (Killpower)

Issue(s): Motormouth #4 (Killpower origin back-up only)
Cover Date: Sep 92
Title: "The birth of Killpower"
Credits:
Graham Marks - Writer
Doug Braithwaite - Penciler
Sean Hardy - Inker
Jacqui Papp - Editor

Review/plot:
This is a short back-up that appeared in Motormouth #4 showing the origin of Killpower.

It shows Mys-Tech getting into developing the first "transgenic human" after first developing a "Pantherine".

And this is where it's confirmed for sure that Killpower is a literal man-child.

This story is said to take place in 1987, but he's already fully grown, so i guess once he hit a certain age he stopped aging.

The art on this is terrible, especially compared to the Gary Frank art that was on the main story. But i love the concept of Killpower, and it's fun to see his origin.

Quality Rating: D+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This is said to take place in "1987". With the Marvel Sliding Timescale, that of course has to be taken with a grain of salt, but i think it makes sense for this to take place in the 1987 publication year (which is probably what the creators intended).

Comments

Braithwaite is a good penciler, but he needs a better inker.

He gets one in 2005 when Alex Ross paints over his pencils for the Justice miniseries.
