Namor annual #1 (Birthday)

Issue(s): Namor annual #1 (birthday story only)
Cover Date: 1991
Title: "Day of reckoning"
Credits:
Chris Cooper - Writer
Sam Hawbaker & Dave Hoover - Penciler
Ian Akin & Brian Garvey - Inker

Review/plot:
Namor is attacked by various old allies.

The attacks turn out to just be attempts to delay Namor while Namorita gets things ready for his birthday party.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: The original Human Torch does not have his flame powers, placing this after Namor #12.

That raises the question of what is going on with the Thing, who looks like a Ferengi but i assume is supposed to look like he's in his pineapple phase. But if that were the case we'd have to push this back before Fantastic Four #330-333, which is way before the Golden Age Torch lost his powers and even before Caleb and Carrie Alexander were introduced (and never mind a smart green Hulk). So i'm placing this in the period where Ben Grimm was wearing an exoskeleton, with the idea that maybe he was experimenting with a new look for it. As for Phoebe Marrs, i am placing this after Namor #14, where Namor and Phoebe reconcile.

Comments

Re:Phoebe Marrs- Namor seems to at least tolerate her after he finds out she has a retarded child in Namor 14- he tells her to help look after his company in issue 15 and agrees to help her with her financial problems in issue 21. The problem is that Caleb's appearance at the party means this has to take place before Desmond's attack on him in issue 17 and thus before Namor goes to the Savage Land in issue 15 and I'm not sure if there's a logical space in issues 14-15 where Namor would be going to meetings without urgency. (That and Ferengi Thing-I'm not sure if it's possible to fit issues 14-15 in before FF 350.)
