Review/plot:
Silver Sable is on her own, having spent time away from the Wild Pack "to regain my combat and stealth proficiency". She's currently staking out a drug deal where one of the participants is Leviathan.

She wants to capture Leviathan on the assumption that he'll have information about her father, who she recently learned was still alive. But also staking out the drug deal is the Punisher. And of course he just wants to shoot Leviathan. Leviathan takes advantage of the fact that they're working at cross purposes to escape.

After a fight, they put aside their differences to work together. Sable tells the Punisher that she's turned down offers to bring him in. And of course she doesn't bat an eye when the Punisher starts slitting throats to get information, since we've seen her group basically do the same.

When they catch up with Leviathan, he tells Sable that Ivan Trefkov is planning some attacks in Europe, but he doesn't know anything about Sable's dad.

Punisher then tries to kill Leviathan even though Sable promised him protection. Leviathan manages to get away, but this will turn out to be his last appearance. I guess a brush with the Punisher was more scary than all the encounters with Nick Fury, and he's decided to retire.

We do check in with the rest of the Wild Pack, and we learn that Crippler is making time with Lorna Kleinfeldt.

And that Raul Quentino has AIDS and is a heroin addict.

If you said "Who?" on that last one, i'm right there with you. I mean i think we deserve a lot of credit just for knowing who Crippler is. But Quentino is indeed one of the many faceless members of the Wild Pack that has been appearing in this series. And now he's got AIDS!

Chronological Placement Considerations: Silver Sable has spent "weeks away" from the Wild Pack after the last two issues. Baron Strucker appears next issue in a scene that works best before Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD #45-47, and to accommodate that plus the "weeks away" several Silver Sable issues have been pushed back in publication time.

Comments

Quentino's skin colour changes dramatically in this issue. Prior to this the only thing that tips off that he's latino is his name. Powell spews a some racist garbage and brags about working for the Klan to Quentino in early issues and from the dialogue you can infer that Powell doesn't necessarily see Quentino as a minority. In this and later issues his ethnicity is played up in both appearance and back story. The former being quite exploitative with Quentino being a former LA gang member (as I recall).
