Review/plot:
Morg returns to Galactus, cutting through an armada of Skrulls to get there.

Firelord and Air-Walker are currently Galactus' heralds, but their loyalties are torn after the return of Princess Adora and the restoration of the Xandarian Star Corps. However, they know that by working for Galactus, they can steer him to lifeless planets. And they're therefore willing to fight Morg for the right to be herald.

Morg decimates Air Walker and has Firelord on the ropes, but Galactus shows up and stops the fight.

The Silver Surfer had been hanging out with Legacy, but soon after they part ways, what's left of Air Walker seeks out the Surfer for help.

Air Walker nearly dies shortly afterwards.

Surfer arrives in time to stop Morg from "disposing" of Firelord, and then gets into a long drawn out fight with Morg. Surfer eventually wins the fight, but can't bring himself to kill Morg. Which is exactly the sort of morality that prevents Galactus from taking the Surfer as herald. But Surfer says he'll cooperate on the matter of Morg if Galactus will preserve the lives of Air Walker and Firelord. And the trick is that the only way to preserve the life of Air Walker is to download his consciousness into Galactus' Worldship. Therefore Air Walker will still be able to guide Galactus to uninhabited worlds. Unfortunately it means that Air Walker and Firelord will have to split up.

Also in this issue, Legacy gets into a misunderstanding with the locals on a planet called Calculex.

Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place between Silver Surfer #92-93, and after Cosmic Powers. The Legacy back-up can take place directly after Legacy's cameo in the main story, and that's how the MCP have it. The back-up shows a flashback with Legacy moving off of his home on Titan, and it features Starfox and Elysius. My policy is that i count characters in flashbacks if they can take place directly before the main story, and that's the case here, so i've listed them as Characters Appearing.

References:

  • Legacy is explaining his involvement in Cosmic Powers #1-6 to Silver Surfer at the start of this issue.
  • The Surfer tells Legacy about how Galactus tampered with his soul, as seen in Silver Surfer #48.
  • Princess Adora and the Xandarian Star Corps returned in New Warriors #40-42.
  • Morg says that he nearly destroyed Air Walker the last time they fought in Silver Surfer #75.

Comments

Caclulex is the same planet where Nova was a stripper, in Silver Surfer 72.
