Review/plot:
Another garbage waste of an issue. The Valkyrie tries to reassert herself, so Thor fights illusions for half an issue.

Before that, there's what should be a fun Thor/Hercules, fight, but the art ruins it. I thought Bruce Zick was promising on his earlier issues, but i may have to rethink that.

The award of The Best Scene to Be Ruined By Terrifying Art goes to:

Grow that beard back, Herc. Something is wrong with your face.

Actually, something is wrong with your whole body.

Also in this issue, Pluto continues his campaign to get Zeus to go after Thor.

Chronological Placement Considerations: This takes place during Infinity Crusade #2.

As i noted in the Considerations for Infinity Crusade #1, in this issue we get a clear shot of Colossus, which seems to help determine placement for this crossover relative to Fatal Attractions (we also see what seem to be his knees in Web of Spider-Man #104). Of course this same scene also seems to feature Wild Thing or X-23.

References:

  • "If you haven't read Infinity Crusade #2, do it now!"
  • One of the illusions Thor faces is of Loki, who is thought to be imprisoned in Mephisto's realm as of Thor #455.
