Gay Cure App

Apple shoulda just stuck with Plants vs Zombies and Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. No need to feature apps that "cure" anything. Please.

Apple appears to have pulled an iPhone and iPad app promising "freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus" after coming under fire from gay rights activists.

More than 146,000 people signed a petition calling on Apple to remove the so-called "gay cure" app backed by Exodus International, a Christian group that describes itself as "the world's largest worldwide ministry to those struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction".

...

In the petition letter addressed to Steve Jobs, the Apple chief executive, and posted last week on the Change.org site, objectors said: "Apple doesn't allow racist or anti-semitic apps in its app store, yet it gives the green light to an app targeting vulnerable LGBT youth with the message that their sexual orientation is a 'sin that will make your heart sick' and a 'counterfeit'.

"This is a double standard that has the potential for devastating consequences. Apple needs to be told, loud and clear, that this is unacceptable."

Jesus Ascension Craft Kit

A couple of questions came to mind when i checked out this link wnkr sent me.

1) Why would you need to purchase a kit? It's just a paper cup, string, and construction paper.

2) Why is a Jesus item being sold on a website called OrientalTrading.com?

I may never know.

Oh, the Irony

China urged Japan to report developments in its nuclear crisis quickly and accurately as concern spread over whether its scope had been downplayed.

Link

This is China urging another country to be more open and accurate about what's going on. I laughed when i read that.

Incidentally, according to this article, Fnord12 was absolutely right about it being too late to invest.

...worried Chinese combed pharmacies Thursday in a mostly vain search for potassium iodide tablets, which are believed to decrease the risk of developing thyroid cancer from nuclear radiation.

There was also a run on the pills in South Korea...

There's also a run on iodized salt, apparently, despite officials at the health ministry saying the amount of iodine in salt is not high enough to offer any protection.

In Jiangsu Province, north of Shanghai, Zhu Bei, a 25-year-old teacher, went to her local supermarket at 10 a.m. after her mother asked her to pick up three or four boxes of salt, each containing as many as 70 individual packets.

But she said the store clerk told her that customers had lined up outside before the store even opened and not a single box was left. Her mother tried several other markets but also came up empty handed.

She said she tried to reassure her mother that the salt would do no good anyway. "Save the lecture," her mother snapped. "You couldn't even get us some salt."[Emphasis mine]

Damn skippy!

Nickolas Galiatsatos, owner of Nina's Bella Pizzeria in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, is accused of putting bags of mice at nearby competitors on Monday afternoon, according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

The owner of Verona Pizza watched Galiatsatos go into his restroom carrying a bag but emerge empty-handed, and alerted two patrol officers who were in the restaurant, Chitwood said.

The officers found a bag of mice and footprints on a toilet seat, suggesting someone had been trying to reach the ceiling tiles, he said.

The officers then found Galiatsatos near another pizza place, Uncle Nick's, where he was seen putting something in a trash can. There, police found a bag containing five mice, Chitwood said.

People get some strange ideas in their heads.
