« What the hell is going on in this country? | Main | A Boost To My Confidence In Iowans » Dancing Galaxies![]() The larger galaxy on the right is seen nearly face-on, with a giant arm of stars, dust and gas reaching out and around its smaller neighbour, which is viewed edge-on. It's pretty to an outside observer far far away. But it must suck for anyone living in either of these 2 galaxies. Imagine your planet and sun and stars constantly being shifted and new ones being added. If they're lucky, it happens so slowly that they're able to adapt to the changes. But if not, imagine the havoc the changing gravitation pulls would wreak on a planet. Someone should tell those two to get a room. |
