Alpha Flight #101

Issue(s): Alpha Flight #101
Cover Date: Oct 91
Title: "Death and how to live it"
Credits:
Fabian Nicieza - Writer
Tom Morgan - Penciler
Christopher Ivy - Inker
Chris Cooper - Assistant Editor
Bobbie Chase - Editor

Review/plot:
This is an epilogue to the Avengers/Galactus storyline, and since this is Fabian Nicieza's last issue, it's a chance for him to do a little wrap-up.

So we have a funeral for James Hudson...

...and the laser that Diamond Lil got from the alien is used to do a biopsy on her breast tumor, which turns out to be benign.

The government officials that have been bothering Alpha Flight also turn out to not be so bad.

Art is by Tom Morgan, who brings us to the brink of madness.

Don't worry, that's just Hercules being playful.

The one thing that isn't resolved is the situation with the heroes that were teleported away by Pathway (along with her parents). Sersi and Vision take Northstar to Dr. Strange to ask him to look for his sister (no one cares about Witchfyre). Dr. Strange takes them to the Crossroads dimension...

...but they are unable to locate their missing teammates. Dr. Strange is able to confirm that they are alive, though.

Chronological Placement Considerations: This starts "days" after the end of the previous issue, with the Avengers and Alpha Flight cleaning up in the aftermath of the battle in Toronto. Her appears in Quasar #26 after this.

References:

  • Heather notes that she doesn't even have to get a new gravestone for her husband, after the one that was saw (via a dream sequence) in Alpha Flight #13, since when Mac came back from the dead this time she didn't even think to have it removed.

Comments

Maybe Heather remembered that she actually watched Mac burn to death instead of teleporting to another planet :)

Btw Heather needs to fix her eyeglass prescription....it's making her cross=eyed (as in the 4th scan).

Agh! That art!!!

I just realized: the perfect actress to play Diamond Lil would've been Lucy Lawless in her Xena days...
