Review/plot:
Greg Salinger has been appearing as a student in Peter Parker's chemistry class.

Salinger is actually the Foolkiller...

...and with Salinger having problems with some of the university's bureaucracies, he goes on another rampage. Spider-Man is eventually able to talk him into getting committed.

Stern? JRJR? You know it's good.

Quality Rating: B+

Historical Significance Rating: 2

Chronological Placement Considerations: In order to accommodate a reference syncing Amazing Spider-Man #229 with Fantastic Four #241 and Avengers #219, a number of Amazing Spider-Man issues have been moved back in publication time.

References:

  • Peter is having problems managing his TA responsibilities with the demands of being Spider-Man. He thinks about his fight with the Vulture last issue, along with fighting Goldbug in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #62 and the Lightmaster in Marvel Team-Up #113.
  • This Foolkiller was inspired by the original from Man-Thing #4. He has appeared in Omega The Unknown #9 and was defeated by the Defenders in Defenders #75.
  • Salinger set off Peter's Spider-Sense once before in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #60.

Comments

this one was odd as all the build up was in Stern's PPSSM issues. It felt like it petered out when i was reading the essentials.

This issue is just plain ridiculous, in a good way. A classic.
