Amazing Spider-Man #71Issue(s): Amazing Spider-Man #71 Review/plot: After having allied himself with Magneto recently, Quicksilver wants to prove to the world that he's really still a good guy, so he decides to apprehend Spider-Man after seeing in the Bugle that Spidey is wanted by the police. Meanwhile, Peter Parker turns in the photos that prove that the Kingpin, not Spider-Man and not the protesting students, was responsible for the theft of the clay tablet last issue. Luckily JJ is still in the hospital, so Robbie is able to print the photos with no fight. Spider-Man also turns over the actual clay tablet to Captain Stacy. When Quicksilver catches up with Spider-Man... ...they each hold their own, and Spidey is eventually able to convince Quicksilver that he's not a bad guy. It's actually interesting to see a plot from the X-Men and the Avengers spill over into Spider-Man, which has generally been pretty isolated. It's clearly meant as a cross-promotional event, but it's pretty seamless and doesn't feel like an interruption of the ASM plots. It's also got some interesting character development for the Toad, who we see in a flashback along with the Scarlet Witch. He's genuinely compassionate towards Wanda while Quicksilver heads off to redeem their reputations. Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place concurrently with Avengers #62. References:

So, comics continuity obsessions have been going on for a VERY long time. Posted by: Mark Drummond | August 6, 2011 11:33 PM My first introduction to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver seemed to be blessed with good fights in the 60s, such as when he fought Cyclops. Posted by: david banes | May 3, 2014 8:40 PM Comments are now closed. |
