Issue(s): Amazing Spider-Man #80
Cover Date: Jan 70
Title: "On the trail of... the Chameleon!"
Credits:
Stan Lee - Writer
John Buscema - Breakdowns
Jim Mooney - Finishes
Jim Mooney - Inker

Review/plot:
This time Buscema and Mooney are both "illustrators" and Romita is listed as an "art consolidator". I really don't know what was going on with this comic. Truthfully, the art doesn't suffer too much. It isn't as great as it was when Romita was doing the full pencils, but it isn't bad at all.

Harry brings Flash home to explain to Peter that he isn't dating Gwen. Peter gets pretty rough with Flash but eventually calms down and calls Gwen.

Meanwhile the Chameleon impersonates first Captain Stacy...

...and then a number of other people in a series of robberies. He blows it when he tries to impersonate Peter Parker, but the way Spider-Man gloats about it, you'd have to be pretty dense to not figure out Spidey's secret identity.

This issue is good for the interpersonal stuff, not so good with the super-hero stuff.

Comments

For a guy so paranoid about revealing his identity, Spidey sure is dumb sometimes.

There's really no way irl superheroes could keep their identities secret. Certainly not Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent or Peter Parker. The latter two in particular are so cavalier with manipulating their own press they're practically jerks.
