Avengers #53Issue(s): Avengers #53 Review/plot: ...which i originally dismissed as Roy Thomas writing, but it's actually part of a plot to make Magneto think that they are disorganized and distrusting of the X-Men. Then Magneto brainwashes the X-Men... ![]() ...forcing them to fight the Avengers, so it doesn't matter anyway. ![]() But the Toad gets sick of all the abuse he gets from Magneto... ![]() ...so he betrays him, setting Magneto's island to self-destruct and then fleeing with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, leaving Magneto behind. ![]() If John Buscema wants to draw Magneto and the X-Men, i'm not going to stop him, even if he insists on letting Roy Thomas write the story. Many prefer him as an Avenger instead of being a X-Man.
