Review/plot:
This is a "special hate-the-holidays" issue, but i'm only covering the Howard the Duck story since the rest are non-continuity spoofs like "Son of Santa". Even this story is a spoof of It's a Wonderful Life. Howard tries to kill himself and is rescued by an angel trying to earn his wings.

So he tries to show Howard how he's affected the lives of his friends. But the joke is that everyone's lives are better without Howard.

In the end it's the angel that wants to jump off the bridge, but Howard convinces him to go with him for a drink instead.

Cute. One of the better non-Gerber Howard stories.

Quality Rating: C

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This takes place on Christmas Eve, which of course takes place 30 times a year in Marvel's condensed timeline. The other characters appearing in this issue like Paul Same and Bev Switzer are just part of the angel's alternate reality, so they don't count as characters appearing.

Paul Smith is so bloody good!

Agreed, Vin. And the above scans made me notice something that probably should have been obvious for years: Smith has a lot of Dave Sim's aesthetic going on. I never caught that before.
