Review/plot:
Daredevil travels to Venice to hunt down the people who raided Heather Glenn's apartment last issue. They're a group of real crazies called the Council of Ten.

As Ben Urich says:

Group of neo-fascists. Apparently they've got ideas about taking over the government. Named themselves after a 13th century group with a similar program.

Stopping an international conspiracy that was tangentially related to Heather's death isn't enough to eliminate Matt's guilt, but he says it's enough for him to go on living.

Quality Rating: B

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Ben Urich mentions the fog from the previous issue, so most likely this takes place the following day.

References:

  • Foggy bemoans the fact that Matt is always going on trips to pursue his personal agenda while their law office is going bust. There's this trip, the trip to Arizona in Daredevil #215 and the trip to Japan circa Daredevil #197.

I love this issue. Great art, history, great bad guy (Emilio Reuss's worship of Mussolini), awesome death traps, the idea of DD buried alive in a dungeon and digging his way out with a sword, and finally an MU adventure on the European continent.

David Mazzucchelli is damn good.

This was the first new issue of DD I bought. It must have been too grim for my 10 year old mind. I didn't pick up another issue for well over a decade.
