Cover Date: Mar 67
Title: "Stilt-Man strikes again"
Credits:
Stan Lee - Writer
Gene Colan - Penciler
Frank Giacoia - Inker

Review/plot:
This comic has one of the the few titles of this period that does not merit an exclamation point. After all, it's just the Stilt-Man.

Matt is really starting to enjoy his "Mike Murdock" charade...

...and worse, Karen is falling for "Mike".

This really could be the root of a lot of Karen's psychological problems, and it's certainly a sign that something is wrong with Matt as well.

Meanwhile, Stilt-Man apparently wants to start a Legion of Losers, and he begins by trying to rescue the Leap-Frog, who is currently in trial. The Leap-Frog screws it up, however.

Then Daredevil attacks...

...using his harpoons and tow-cables to knock Stilt-Man down, defeating him.

Stilt-Man is rescued by the Masked Marauder, ensuring that the Legion of Losers concept will continue.

This issue, the Marauder is revealed to be Frank Farnum, the landlord of the building Nelson & Murdock's office is in. The footnote admits that this shouldn't really be a shock to anyone.

Historical Significance Rating: 2

References:

  • The Stilt-Man previously appeared in Daredevil #8, where he was shrunk. He appears to have shrunk so much he wound up in another dimension, which is surprisingly consistent with the way shrinking has been handled in the Fantastic Four.

Thanks. It should be there now.

I'm surprised we didnt see more scenes of Matt in the courtroom with villains trying to escape.

I don't remember it being called a Legion of Losers (unless you're being facetious). There was later the Emissaries of Evil that both of them were in but the Masked Marauder was never involved with them.

At one point, Matt remarks that his twin-bropther gimmick means they'll have to get Alec Guinness to play him in the movies. This is probably a reference to Guinness playing eight members of the D'Ascoyne family in the classic British comedy Kind Hearts and Coronets.
