Review/plot:
Rick Leonardi pencils pages 10-14 and 31.

We start with Daredevil having an uncharacteristically cheery swing around the city, and then some fun with Foggy getting used to Matt's alter ego.

That continues when Liz Allan shows up at the office.

Liz is interested in spending more time with Foggy!

Nice to see some organic cross-pollunation of supporting characters between titles (and this comes via the Green Goblin series; see the reference below). I also like Nord's layouting and character poses. It's not as polished as, say, Mark Bagley, but it represents a similar rejection of the Image style art, going back to the classic sensibilities in terms of panel size and flow while also looking modern.

Matt goes out to lunch with Karen Page, where he learns that Mr. Hyde is still challenging Daredevil to prove that he murdered the girl from last issue. He also bumps into Ben Urich and Peter Parker, and is therefore surprised to see Spider-Man swing by overhead. What's funny is that all three people he's talking to know that Matt is DD, but none know that the others do, so each tries to cover for Matt's sudden departure.

This is a perfect Misunderstanding Fight situation, but Karl Kesel avoids all that allowing for some fun meta-humor and character moments.

This is still a super-hero comic, so they get into a little fight with a guy called "the Shooter".

Some of the humor might be too meta (e.g. the idea that the Kingpin started as a Spider-Man villain but that he's now more associated with Daredevil's book). But i still enjoy the comedy.

Later, Matt goes to visit Rosalind Sharpe, who seems to be testing his blindness.

Matt agrees to work with Sharpe, for Foggy's sake. But he then finds out that defending Mr. Hyde is going to be his first assignment.

Quality Rating: B+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place after Green Goblin #7-8 (see reference below).

References:

  • The reason Liz Allan knows Foggy is because he represented her "recently". There's no footnote (and this wasn't an obvious one to find!) but it turns out that Foggy represented her in Green Goblin #7, attempting to send the current Goblin a cease & desist on the grounds that Liz owned the reigns via inheritance from Harry's death.
  • Daredevil and Spider-Man's get together references a wide range of stuff in a general sense, but the discovery of the skeleton was in Spectacular Spider-Man #231 and Foggy found out that Matt was Daredevil in Daredevil #347.
