Title: "Suddenly... the Stunt-Master!"
Credits:
Roy Thomas - Writer
Gene Colan - Penciler
Syd Shores - Inker

Review/plot:
Daredevil has followed Karen Page to Los Angeles after finding a note (or the impression of one) containing the address of a friend of Karen's named Sally Weston. Karen is indeed at Sally's place, but they're not letting on.

Daredevil takes Sally at her word and doesn't actually go to the address to find out. Instead he just wanders LA hoping to bump into Karen. This does result in the novelty of having a super-hero outside of New York.

If you're worried about Matt Murdock's secret identity, don't worry. Daredevil is smarter than Spider-Man, so when he leaves for LA, he tells Foggy that he's going to Miami so that Matt Murdock and Daredevil don't both show up in the same city at the same time.

Anyway, while scanning LA, Daredevil doesn't find Karen, but he does find the Stunt-Master, who was trying to go straight by getting an actual stuntman job except that the person that hired him knew he was a former criminal and is now forcing him to steal a rare film.

Daredevil first tries to stop him...

...but then helps him out when he finds out what is up.

Why oh why would you ever use the Stunt-Master again?

Quality Rating: D+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: A flashback shows Daredevil in Karen's apartment "a couple of hours" after last issue, but more time than that has passed since the start of this issue, including time for Matt's plane ride to LA. And this story takes place over the course of a week.

References:

  • There's no footnote, but the Stunt-Master previously appeared in Daredevil #58 and avoided jail "on a technicality".

Crossover: N/A

Continuity Insert? N

My Reprint: Essential Daredevil vol. 3

Inbound References (1): show

Comments

Colon's art always feels wasted on these DD plots.
