Dazzler #39Issue(s): Dazzler #39 Review/plot: Meanwhile, the scientist father (Doctor Piper, but this is his only appearance) of a catatonic girl has developed an armored suit. Piper blames his daughter's attendance at one of Dazzler's psychedelic concerts for his daughter's state, although it seems she's had other problems as well. Dazzler fights the guy... ...and defeats him after a tough fight that puts him in the coma while bringing his daughter out of it. A bit pat but Goodwin's got a decent natural writing style. I like Chadwick's art... ...although Dazzler's flip hairstyle is a little weird. But you're not here for any of that, right? You just want to see O.Z. Chase's obnoxious dog. This scene was funny too. Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: At the end of this issue Dazzler is captured by Chase. She next appears in Secret Wars II #4. Chase CommentsDeathgrip was also the name of a late-period Captain Marvel villain. Posted by: Mark Drummond | June 24, 2012 2:00 AM I really like Chadwick's art here. AND Dazzler's hairstyle. Posted by: Paul | September 8, 2012 2:34 PM The Captain Marvel villain was preceded by yet another Deathgrip, who appeared in Atlas/Seaboard's THE DESTRUCTOR #2. The story was written by Goodwin. Posted by: Luke Blanchard | November 27, 2016 11:26 AM This is actually good. Surprising for a Dazzler book. It's a shame it'll end soon Posted by: Karel | January 22, 2018 2:46 PM Comments are now closed. |
