Excalibur #103Issue(s): Excalibur #103 Review/plot: I thought i had done it. I thought i had gotten through a run of Excalibur without a Cross-Time Caper. I should have known better. Actually, it all turns out to be a test set up by Belasco, who it turns out is holding Margali Szardos. He's anticipating a conflict with Excalibur. This might be a sign that Warren Ellis left the book suddenly, because Belasco won't be appearing in this book again (it looks like this plot will be wrapped up in X-Men Unlimited #19, mid-1998). Also in this issue, Pete Wisdom takes Captain Britain's advice and tells Kitty that he loves her. It turns out that Brian's "warning from the future" was just a trick to get Pete to admit it. Statement of Ownership Total Paid Circulation: Average of Past 12 months = 160,838. Single issue closest to filing date = 166,510. Quality Rating: C Chronological Placement Considerations: I should note that the MCP had both Margali Szardos and Belasco appearing last issue and only Belasco appearing this issue. I assumed that the evil laugh from last issue was Belasco and that there's no reason for Szardos to be listed. But it's possible that some future story reveals that the Szardos appearing here is a fake and she was the one laughing last issue. Pryde & Wisdom takes place after this issue.
