Review/plot:
H.E.R.B.I.E. lets Blastaar through the Negative Zone portal in the Baxter Building.

Meanwhile, an old scientist friend of Reed Richards turns an evolutionary accelerator on himself and becomes something very similar to Alpha from Defenders #15-16 (a similarity that Mark Gruenwald will pick up on during his Quasar run).

After some nice Byrne-art fighting...

...Franklin uses his powers to throw Blastaar back through the Negative Zone.

The Alpha-like scientist says that he sees something of himself in Franklin, and then heads off to become one with the cosmos.

The FF don't yet realize that H.E.R.B.I.E. is the one who opened the Negative Zone portal.

Brief cameo by Captain America and the Vision when Reed calls the Avengers to alert them that Blastaar is on the loose.

OK story, great Byrne art.
