Fantastic Four #78

Issue(s): Fantastic Four #78
Cover Date: Sep 68
Title: "The Thing no more!"
Credits:
Stan Lee - Writer
Jack Kirby - Penciler
Joe Sinnott - Inker

Review/plot:
The FF return from the Microverse. The Thing immediately starts brooding, but after barely hardly even checking in on his pregnant wife, Reed heads to the lab and whips up the latest in Thing Cures. Johnny and Ben talk about cars and girls in the garage.

Meanwhile the Wizard has created himself some power gloves...

...and after the Thing gets turned back into Ben Grimm, he attacks. Ben's a little disoriented.

The Human Torch actually does a pretty good job of defeating the Wizard on his own. We haven't seen him be competent in quite some time.

Reed does get a good smack in, though.

But then the Wizard flies off and while the Torch shakes his hand impotently like an old man telling kids to get off his lawn...

...Reed informs Ben that this potion was the last shot - if Ben ever becomes the Thing again, it will be permanent permanent. We all see where this is going.

Meanwhile, there are some complications in Sue's pregnancy. Not that Reed's around to hear about it.

Chronological Placement Considerations: The FF have been traveling home from the Microverse in between this issue and last, so no FF appearance should be placed in between.

The Wizard with Power Gloves...

"It's so Bad". (had to be said)

I liked this one although what was up with Ben was kind of obvious.
