Ghost Rider #47Issue(s): Ghost Rider #47 Review/plot: A new villain, Dread, kills cops for a Mr. Hellgate. As police officer Michael Badilino, Vengeance investigates alongside his partner, Jim "Ski" Sokolowski. Badilino finds Dread, who says that Hellgate wants Badilino dead too. Badilino ducks around the corner and turns into Vengeance. Dread withdraws when the rest of the police arrive on the scene. Later, Vengeance terrorizes the criminal underworld looking for info on Hellgate, but finds nothing. Later still, Badilino is talking with Stacy Dolan about the death of Danny Ketch and the nature of Ghost Rider when Ski shows up in goon gear. They say that Dread is nearby. Badilino goes into his apartment building's basement, finds dead cops, go back upstairs, and finds Ski and his partners have been attacked. The others are dead but Ski is just badly injured. Stacy was left alone even though she's also a police officer ("He didn't know I was on the job"). Badilino turns into Vengeance and catches up with Dread. While they fight, Vengeance thinks to himself, wondering if Dread could be a Lilin or otherwise supernatural. Dread responds out loud, saying he's not supernatural and doesn't even believe in "ghosts and stuff". But he's mildly psychic. Which also helps him anticipate Vengeance's attacks. But Vengeance just says "Anticipate this" and kicks him in the face. The cops arrive, and Dread will be arrested, but he says that he'll break out after Hellgate gets him out and he heals up. Quality Rating: D Chronological Placement Considerations: Despite this being the first part of a two-part "Under fire" storyline, the MCP place a number of other Vengeance appearances between this issue and the next one. Next issue starts with an interrogation of Dread, but it doesn't need to start directly after this. But when Dread first sees Vengeance next issue, he says that he owes him for "last night" which is presumably a reference to this issue. So if other stories do take place between this issue and next, they have to happen during a short span of time. Ghost Rider #49 takes place before Hulk #417, which affects placement of this and next issue. References: N/A Crossover: N/A Continuity Insert? N My Reprint: N/A
