Issue(s): Godzilla #10, Godzilla #11
Cover Date: May-Jun 78
Title: "Godzilla vs. Yetrigar" / "Arena for three!"
Credits:
Doug Moench - Writer
Herb Trimpe - Penciler
Fred Kida - Inker

Review/plot:
Underground nuclear testing in Nevada wakes up and irradiates a missing link type creature in Alberta, Canada...

...and pretty soon the "Yetrigar" is mixing it up with Godzilla in the Grand Canyon.

Rob Takiguchi sneaks away from Jimmy Woo and Tamara Hashioka, who are distracted by their budding romance, and joins the fight in Red Ronin.

Rob eventually buries Yetrigar under some boulders...

...and lets Godzilla walk away.

The debate between Gabe Jones and Dum Dum Dugan, initially about what to do about Godzilla, extends to nuclear testing in these issues. Basically, these guys disagree about everything, with Dum Dum taking the hardliner position.

Godzilla fighting other giant monsters is when he's the most fun, but there's still something missing from this series compared to his movies.

Yetrigar actually has a couple of appearances outside of the Godzilla series.

So, nobody noticed a gigantic sasquatch taking three months to walk from Alberta to Arizona?
