Review/plot:
I am a fan of Ray Harryhausen, and he does an awesome scene in The Valley of Gwangi where a bunch of cowboys take on an Allosaurus. But Godzilla is much bigger than an Allosaurus, and i kind of feel like it's sacrilegious for ordinary sized humans to interact directly with Godzilla (although there's a super-hero exception for his Marvel appearances). So while i get the idea behind this arc - and "cowboys vs. Godzilla" is not an idea you rule out without consideration regardless of any Harryhausen connection - i can't say that i like it.

That dude in the standard Kirby/Trimpe look-back pose above is waaaay too happy about going up against a giant fire breathing lizard. Unless that's an expression of unadulterated manic terror.

Godzilla has taken direct hits from missiles, so there's not much that cowboys can do to him...

...even if they do manage to set off some dynamite on his tail.

They stop attacking him when their fight takes them to a canyon where it turns out that the bad guy of the piece is hiding some cattle that he stole (Godzilla was originally blamed for the cattle's disappearance). And then Godzilla takes out the bad guy.

I guess you'd have to be soul-less to not enjoy that ending, and there's a few other cute/funny scenes as well...

...including a shot of Godzilla falling asleep. Awwwwww!

But i'd still rather have monster and/or super-hero battles.

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This takes place soon enough after the previous arc that Red Ronin's wreckage hasn't been cleaned up yet. I'm allowing space between this arc and next issue due to the fact that we'll soon be getting into a number of guest appearances that cause dependencies with other titles. The SHIELD characters aren't involved in the main plot this time, so between this issue and next is a good time for some non-Godzilla appearances for Dum Dum.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone as happy as that cowboy!

this comic would have been better I think if they would have come right out and said directly that Godzilla is intelligent and understands. I remember the issue where a shrunk Godzilla is wearing a fedora and trenchcoat walking around the city and this means he'd have to be at least as smart as Lockjaw or a gorilla or something!
