Green Goblin #5Issue(s): Green Goblin #5 Review/plot: Failing to get some sleep, Phil heads over to his friend "Fast" Freddie Glazer to play some Mortal Wombat. 100% would play Mortal Wombat, but not with a guy wearing a Carnage t-shirt in a world where Carnage actually exists! But Freddie's shirt and toys gives Phil the idea to get in on the merchandising bandwagon. However, unlike whoever made Freddie's shirt, most merchants aren't too into promoting serial killers (and also, the speculator market boom is over!). Also in this issue, we meet the Judge that Ben Urich has been investigating. I mean, one look at this guy and if you're not saying "Villain!" you've never read a comic book. His last name is Tomb! He's Judge Tomb! Later, while "patrolling" and continuing to internally debate whether or not he wants to be a hero, Phil saves Ben from some of Tomb's goons. Which convinces him that being a hero is both fun and worth doing. The book continues to have Silver Age sensibilities dressed up for the 90s (the merch stuff is straight out of the early Spider-Man issues, and the pacing continues to his the 1980s-era sweet spot. I think this book coming out at a time when Venom, Sabretooth, et al., were all getting books hurt this one's chances since it's really aimed at people who wouldn't like that sort of thing but those people probably skipped it.
