Issue(s): Haunt of Horror #3 (Gabriel the Devil Hunter story only)
Cover Date: Sep 74
Title: "House of Brimstone"
Credits:
Doug Moench - Writer
Billy Graham & Pablo Marcos - Penciler
Frank Giacoia & Mike Esposito - Inker

Review/plot:
All four artists on this issue are just credited with "art"; the penciler/inker breakdown comes from the UHBMCC.

Gabriel the Devil Hunter gets a call from a Dr. Craig Miller, an expert in demonology and exorcism. But his daughter has been possessed and he needs help.

Gabriel's precognitive assistant Desadia plays a more active role in this story than the first one.

She actually accompanies Gabriel on his mission.

As he did in his first story, Gabriel attempts to exorcise the demon through taunts, but this demon is wise to his tricks.

But it comes out that the demons have an agreement to not try to attack Gabriel individually any more (and yet the demon did try to possess Gabriel earlier).

Gabriel gets the demon out of Miller's daughter by threatening to kill the daughter (and it's not clear if he's bluffing). The demon then goes and possesses Miller and covers Desadia in slime...

...and it turns out that Miller has already swallowed rat poison in anticipation of the demon possessing him. Being inside the doctor while he dies kills the demon.

Comments

According to Moench in Alter Ego #146, Graham inked all his work. However, Graham's last several pages got last in the mail, and Marcos/Giacoia/Esposito had to bash out replacements over a weekend.
