Hulk #103

Issue(s): Hulk #103
Cover Date: May 68
Title: "And now... the Space Parasite!"
Credits:
Gary Friedrich - Writer
Marie Severin - Penciler
Frank Giacoia - Inker

Review/plot:
Odin teleports Hulk to the middle of Times Square...

...causing a ruckus. Eventually becoming Banner again, Bruce bluffs his way into Rick Jones' apartment while Rick isn't home. He turns on the TV and sees Rick, along with General Ross and Glenn Talbot, on television.

Rick is saying that the Hulk is a menace that needs to be destroyed. Soon after, Rick returns to the apartment with a gun, but can't bring himself to kill Bruce. Betty also shows up at Rick's, but she gets possessed by the Space Parasite...

...and he makes her say nasty things to Bruce, too (Rick was not possessed.) Then Bruce Hulks up and fights the Space Parasite...

...defeating him. Then the police subdue the Hulk with gas grenades and arrest Banner.

Quality Rating: C

Historical Significance Rating: 2 - first Space Parasite

Chronological Placement Considerations: Since time works differently in Asgard, i'm allowing a little space between Odin's actions at the end of last issue and the Hulk's arrival in Times Square here.

Comments

I'm wondering why you don't include the Space Parasite as a character appearing here. You include aliens as characters, don't you?
He shows up again in a Larsen Wolverine story. His real name is given as Randau. I prefer the Space Parasite.

Just an oversight. Thanks, CK.

The Space Parasite was also shown to be the dictator of his people who detonate his ship by remote control when he flees to it after being beaten by the Hulk.
