Hulk #193Issue(s): Hulk #193 Review/plot: The Hulk washes up in New York and gets into a scuffle with the police, so Samson goes in after him. This is Samson in the mold of his earlier appearances, so he doesn't try to reason with the Hulk or use his psychological training. It's just a brawl. After causing some destruction in the streets, Samson at least decides to take the battle out of a populated area, so he and the Hulk hop up to the top of the twin towers. The Hulk knocks Samson off the buildings... ...and continues to shout trash-talk from afar before jumping off. This is the end of Herb Trimpe's really long run on Hulk, which goes back to issue #106. Quality Rating: C Chronological Placement Considerations: Banner was on a boat from Scotland at the beginning of this issue. Hulk #184-193 take place between Giant-Size Defenders #3-4. References:

(yeah people will say Wolverine but that was John Romita who created him, Trimpe just drew him) Somehow Samson tends to just be Reed Richards minus genius intellect and with psychology...plus he can fight Hulk on two levels. Posted by: S | April 14, 2015 9:49 PM Trimpe's art was lousy at first, but got better his tenure progressed. I don't think his long run is one of the best. Posted by: Steven | May 25, 2015 3:39 PM I wonder if this is the Hulk's first use of his awkward catchphrase "strongest one there is"? Posted by: Andrew | December 25, 2016 10:52 PM There is a panel where you can spot a rubbish bin with a copy of the Daily Bugle whose main title is "Talking duck in Cleveland?". Posted by: JTI88 | January 6, 2017 6:50 AM @Andrew- according to Brian Cronin, the first time that exact phrase appeared was in Marvel Team-Up 18: Posted by: Michael | January 8, 2017 8:36 PM Comments are now closed. |
