Review/plot:
Bruce/Hulk returns to his desert lab, having been away since he was brought into space. You know who those beans are for, but where can i get me a can of "Stuff"?

Rick and Betty yet don't know that he's now got Banner's brain. But they're not at the lab, because they are at Gamma Base with Bereet trying to get help for Rick's gamma ray exposure.

A bird-lady called Jackdaw is also at Gamma Base.

This room is called a "lab" but it sure looks like a weapon storage room to me.

She finds a giant stone robot called Megalith that was designed to be used against the Hulk but had never been previously used.

She activates it via a virtual reality harness...

...just as the Hulk arrives at the Base. Hulk makes relatively short work of it...

...and reunites with Rick, Betty, and Bereet. The re-union is a bit... wanting, but i do like how Betty just kinda rolls with the latest insanity to walk through the door. She's been through a lot.

Meanwhile, the U-Foes have finally gotten themselves all back together again. It's been a long set-up, and we'll see them next issue.

Jackdaw's name is eventually changed to Blackbird, but Jackdaw is a lot more unique and it was the name she used more often during her (relatively few) appearances, so i'm sticking with that.

Quality Rating: C

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Due to his involvement in the Defenders as "dumb Hulk", his Banner-brain appearances in his solo series have been compressed a bit.

References:

  • Bruce/Hulk parted with Rick and Betty in Hulk #269.
  • Rick claims that he exposed himself to Gamma Rays because Bruce wanted to destroy the Hulk, and the Hulk was Rick's friend, and Rick tends to lose his friends, like he lost Captain Mar-Vell in Marvel Graphic Novel #1, so he had to create a new Hulk. Convoluted, but he is delusional from gamma ray exposure.

Crossover: N/A

Continuity Insert? N

My Reprint: N/A

Maybe Stuff is just a substitute for Spam?

Stuff is short for "Stuffing" perhaps?

the goggles for Magalith are really prophetic, like something available nowadays. However, I wonder why you'd build in the pain sensors for the user. couldnt you just avoid that?
