Human Fly #18-19Issue(s): Human Fly #18, Human Fly #19 Review/plot: ![]() This time, the Fly and crew are at a Hopi Indian reservation, and the tribal elders are all drunks under the thumb of the local bar owner (hey! *i* didn't write this!). ![]() The Elders are shaken out of their stupor when a member of the tribe uses a movie projector to display the Hopi Gods on the clouds during the Human Fly's stunt . ![]() These are the last issues of the Human Fly series. The cancellation must have been sudden. The lettercol says: ...the fact that the Fly's well on his way into his second year as a comic book character must say something about his success in the medium. We're hoping the next year will be as encouraging as the first, while we attempt to add an element of drama that Bill has said he felt the book was lacking . The current storyline was conceived to correct precisely that lack of drama. The lettercol is also full of little fly drawings, which is weird. ![]() But then the last panel announces that the series is over. Oh well! CommentsThis series may have been cancelled so abruptly due to name-licensing troubles. Posted by: Mark Drummond | December 24, 2011 5:41 PM Ho-boy! If the Hopi had a problem with the SuperPro issue that involved criminals dressed up as kachinas, it's a good thing they never got wind of this issue. Posted by: Erik Robbins | September 8, 2013 11:18 PM Nova, Spider-Woman, The Human Fly, Us Agent, US1, Shogun Warriors and Godzilla all got a regular continuing series before Wolverine. Posted by: a.lloyd | May 7, 2015 10:39 PM @a.lloyd while I think your general point is a good and interesting one, one of your facts is incorrect. US Agent has never had an ongoing series - unless you mean his stint as Captain America which shouldn't really count. Posted by: Hugh Sheridan | March 25, 2018 6:38 PM Comments are now closed. |
