Marvel Comics Presents #105 (Thing)Issue(s): Marvel Comics Presents #105 (Thing story only) Review/plot: ![]() He finds a crystal that looks straight out of the Questprobe video games, but before he can take it he is challenged by a Shogun Warrior. ![]() I was waiting for the Human Fly and the Micronauts to show up next. But instead he just fights the Shogun Warrior for a while. ![]() The Thing defeats the Warrior (whose real name is Vigil, although the Thing keeps calling him Virgil) but declines to kill him, which actually proves that he's worthy. It's said that Annihilus has tried and failed to get the crystal three times. And it turns out winning a crystal is like winning one of the little teddy bears at the boardwalk. Virgil's got hundreds of 'em. ![]() Which is probably for the best, because i don't think anything is every done with this crystal. I assume Mr. Fantastic just tosses it in a junk drawer when the Thing gets home. Weird kind of cartoony art which i actually kind of like. Quality Rating: C- Chronological Placement Considerations: Mr. Fantastic has sent the Thing into the Negative Zone. He doesn't appear at all in this story, but i figure he must be behind the scenes. References: N/A Crossover: N/A Continuity Insert? N My Reprint: N/A
CommentsIt's too bad that the Thing wasn't used more often in MCP. Ben Grimm has unfortunately never been popular enough to carry a solo ongoing series for an extended length of time, so a semi-regular spot in this title could have been a good thing. That might also have worked with the Human Torch. Ah, missed opportunities! Posted by: Ben Herman | May 17, 2016 9:23 PM Isn't that what they basically did in the 60's, Ben?
