Issue(s): Marvel Comics Presents #112 (Pip the Troll story only)
Cover Date: 1992
Title: "Picnic"
Credits:
Jim Starlin - Writer
Rata Fagiani - Penciler
Ken Branch - Inker
Mark Powers - Assistant Editor
Terry Kavanagh - Editor

Review/plot:
Pip the Troll goes for a picnic on Monster Island, but a creature keeps popping out of the ground to steal his vittles.

He eventually wacks the thing, but it turns out to actually be a part of a larger creature.

The creature eats him, but i guess Pip doesn't agree with it so it spits him out. Actually, we don't see that, but my interpretation is better than the alternative.

I was looking forward to some lighthearted humor after Starlin's Thanos Infinity War tie-in in previous issues of Marvel Comics Presents, but this story is too basic and predictable and not very funny. I would have never guessed it was written by Starlin if i hadn't seen the credits. I am sure that a part of the problem is the very amateurish art.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Pip calls himself the champion of the Infinity Wars, so this takes place after Infinity War. The MCP place it soon after, which means it takes place while Warlock is in a coma.

Fnord, there's another alternative you might not have thought of- Pip had the Space gem at this point, right? He could have used it to teleport out.

I believe that's what I assumed as well when I first read this way back when.
