Marvel Comics Presents #113-118 (Ghost Rider)Issue(s): Marvel Comics Presents #113, Marvel Comics Presents #114, Marvel Comics Presents #115, Marvel Comics Presents #116, Marvel Comics Presents #117, Marvel Comics Presents #118 (Ghost Rider/Iron Fist story only) Review/plot: ![]() ![]() They are a "Legion of Vengeance" that all turn out to be controlled by a demon called D'Kay who says that he's going to replace all the super-heroes with his guys. ![]() ![]() Ghost Rider and Iron Fist convince the Legion to use their powers for good instead of being D'Kay's pawns. So D'Kay takes their powers away. ![]() I shouldn't neglect the Misunderstanding Fight. ![]() ![]() I was looking forward to this because it would have been Iron Fist's first significant outing by publication date after he was brought back, but it seems like Marvel didn't really have anything to do with him. This story is very much in the Steve Gerber tradition, with the Legion of Vengeance being very much like Gerber's type of parody characters. But Joey Cavalieri seems to be trying to have it both ways and give us satire and a legitimate action adventure story at the same time, and because of that it fails on both fronts. And that's before we get to the ponderous final two issues where D'Kay just drones on and on. I thought this scene was funny. ![]() In addition to the over the top stalker creepiness of Mind's Eye, i like the lampooning of the sentiment that promiscuous people deserve the STDs that they may contract. For what it's worth, in the lettercol responses to this feature, Marvel is still touting the fact that an Iron Fist regular monthly series by Jae Lee is coming soon. Quality Rating: C- Historical Significance Rating: 1 Chronological Placement Considerations: A footnote says that this goes before Ghost Rider #25. But because i'm placing this after Iron Fist's appearance in Cage #9-13, i'm placing this after Ghost Rider #25-32, which should work just as well. References:

CommentsI would love to see a team-up with D'Kay, D'Gard, D'ken,D'Spayre & D'Von Kray. They could call themselves the "D-Team";).
