Review/plot:
Aside from a belated appearance of Motormouth and Killpower in Hulk (and not counting appearances of the original Death's Head), this is the only appearance of any of the Marvel UK characters in an American comic. And, weirdly, it's not by anyone from the Marvel UK office. Those guys were doing like 30,000 books a month, so you'd think they'd have had time to do an 8 page short for Marvel Comics Presents instead of leaving what was likely the only chance at getting an America audience to take a look at the characters in the hands of people doing try-out work (Skip Dietz had written one prior Marvel Comics Presents story, and this is Hoang Nguyen's first).

The Pendragons are out investigating crop circles.

They're then attacked by a Bane lord named Shadow Wing.

I kinda want his action figure.

The Pendragons fight Shadow Wing...

...and defeat him by breaking his staff, which turns back into wheat?!?

But the bad news is that Shadow Wing has a human identity running an agritech company.

And since he'll never appear again, that means he's still out there planting his bad seeds.

On the surface this does act like a Knights of Pendragon story, with a Bane enemy and a vaguely environmental theme. And it does a fair job of introducing the characters. It's not great, but it's been a while since the actual Knights of Pendragon was any good, anyway, so i'm not sure if the regular creative team could have done a better job of selling it.

Quality Rating: C

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This takes place after the debut of the Alan Davis designed costumes (some time after Knights of Pendragon #8) but beyond that it should fit in any gap in their series.
