Review/plot:
Two issues after the last one, this is another American Eagle story by the same creative team. But it's not related to the previous story. In this one, American Eagle is hunting a serial killer with Woke FBI Agent Dale Peck.

They're attacked by someone, but American Eagle realizes that he's not the killer that he's tracking.

And then the real killer, who is crazy but has mental powers, arrives.

The killer forces American Eagle and Agent Peck to fight (i feel like Agent Peck would actually be a better name for America Eagle while he's wearing this costume).

Eagle resists the mind control and punches out the killer. He then says he was able to resist by un-suppressing what he needed to suppress in order to get along with the FBI.

Agent Peck will appear again, but not in a story with American Eagle (maybe because Eagle hates the FBI again?). That story is also by John Figueroa and Ron Wilson, and they'll also do two more American Eagle stories together.

I'll always like Ron Wilson's art. That costume though!

Comments

I agree that American Eagle is one of those ultra-obscure characters who was well suited to receiving stories in MCP, since it *could* have been a good venue to develop him. Instead we just got several throw-away stories by John Figueroa & Ron Wilson. and the timing of these stories was awful, because for a short time MCP really got stuck in a rut, what with every single issue featuring Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist and American Eagle.

Wikipedia indicates that after his mini-run in MCP, American Eagle wouldn't pop up again for another 14 years, appearing in several issues of Thunderbolts. For a time that title really became the go-to place for reviving obscure characters.

I rather liked his original costume for sentimental reasons but that beak and mohawk had to go.
