Review/plot:
A single issue Wolverine story in between two multi-parters. We're back in Madripoor, and this story features Sapphire Styx, a villain from Marvel Comics Presents' first Wolverine story.

Wolverine is in "Tiger Tyger's bar" (note the incorrect placement of the I and the Y; i'm very sympathetic to how easy it is to mess that up), causing a ruckus. Tyger Tiger comes down to scold him wearing... i don't know what to call that.

Tyger starts loosening Wolverine's belt...

...but he tells her he's not interested. So she gets down to business and tells him that Sapphire Styx has stolen something from her. Wolverine agrees to help.

Wolverine's meeting with Styx goes similar to the one with Tyger.

But it turns out he's just faking to get close to her.

"I never hit a lady but you're no lady" is my favorite cliche. I don't think i've ever seen a hero stop at just "I never hit a lady" (unless they've got a female partner/sidekick along with them, in which case it doesn't need to be said; it just works out that the ladies fight each other).

That's it for Sapphire Styx. Her power is that she drains your energy when you kiss her, so once you know that about her and decline to kiss here there isn't much she can do. Which is i guess why she's only ever appeared twice.

As for the box, it turns out to have a pair of terrifying figures of what looks to me like a pair of disapproving old men in traditional Japanese garb wrestling with each other.

This is apparently a gift in acknowledgement of Mariko's death. But that doesn't stop Tyger from propositioning Wolvie again.

Quality Rating: D

Chronological Placement Considerations: The MCP places this in the same gap for Wolverine as the last arc.

"Her power is that she drains your energy when you kiss her, so once you know that about her and decline to kiss here there isn't much she can do. Which is i guess why she's only ever appeared twice."In Marvel Comics Presents 9, she seemed to be able to drain Tyger Tiger's lifeforce just by touching her, so there should be no reason why she can't be as dangerous as Rogue if her powers work on bare skin to bare skin contact. (And you'd think Logan would wear gloves if that was the case.)

Is Sapphire Styx supposed to be the same kind of being as Selene, only much less powerful?
