Marvel Comics Presents #139 (Batroc)Issue(s): Marvel Comics Presents #139 (Batroc story only) Review/plot: This Batroc story takes place in Montreal, and it uses extremely over-the-top French accents. Batroc is walking down the street when a bomb goes off in a bank, and a woman hires him to rescue her husband, a bank manager that was caught in the explosion. Inside the bank he finds (if my Comic French Accent to English dictionary is correct) Adam and the Goon Squad. Batroc deals with them, including their telekinetic "midget" leader. The bank manager then tries to take credit for everything. The press eventually lose interest and walk away. Batroc even returns the money he was paid. Goofy. At his best, Batroc can be an interesting character. A "bad guy" and a mercenary, but honorable. At his worst, he's a joke. In action this story is somewhat in line with the former, but in tone it very much reinforces the latter. I've seen a lot of Rob Liefeld / Jim Lee imitators, but a McFarlane imitator? That's new...
