Review/plot:
Spider-Woman goes to the mall where a sniper starts firing at people in the parking lot. No one is hit, and by the time Spider-Woman gets to the roof, the sniper is gone. She returns to Force Works wondering if she was the target.

Force Works' public relations liaison Amanda Chaney then gives Spider-Woman a bunch of fan mail, including a bunch of creepy stalker-ish ones that Spider-Woman nonetheless finds "flattering".

The stalker later approaches Spider-Woman after she picks up her daughter Rachel at school.

Spider-Woman is shot. She's brought to the hospital, where we learn that the bullet only grazed her side, giving her broken ribs. She's visited by Force Works, and USAgent swears that he's going to hunt down the shooter. Then Rachel says that she remembers the shooter's license plate number. It turns out to be a rental, but it brings Spider-Woman to the airport, where the shooter is. And this time she takes the guy down before he can shoot. She almost kills him, but is stopped by one of her legitimate fans.

We never see the shooter's face, which is an interesting decision. Maybe the only interesting thing about this story, really.

  • Spider-Woman says that after her last fight with Deathweb, which would have been in Spider-Woman #1-4, she had concerns about her secret identity going public and was considering going into a government protection program. But when she joined Force Works in Force Works #1, she thought the relative seclusion of the team would protect her and Rachel.

Comments

Amanda is a blonde in the regular Force Works series. Did the colorist get her confused with Wanda to make her a redhead here?

Wanda isn't a redhead.

According to the OHotMU, her hair is "auburn", so... reddish.
