Marvel Comics Presents #9 (El Aguila)

Cover Date: Dec 88
Title: "Piece of cake!"

Scott Lobdell - Writer

Review/plot:
The writing debut of Scott Lobdell (not counting 6 pages of What The--?) is a short story about El Aguila.

El Aguila has been called back from America to a village of San Elainya in Spain by his cousin. She didn't know that he was a superhero, but hoped that he could use his influence as a wealthy businessman to free them from "the rule of the Conquistador". She's not happy that he's actually a superhero.

The Conquistador's reaction is pretty funny.

The whole story is very tongue-in-cheek.

El Aguila beats the bad guy, of course.

Undoubtedly the most entertaining single-issue story i've read in Marvel Comics Presents so far. This Lobdell guy, he's going to go far, right?

Comments

(rewatches "Red Hood and the Outlaws #1" and "The Culling" episodes of AT4W)

Yeah, Scott Lobdell will gain a reputation, alright.

I love it how the entire story is supposedly translated from Spanish and they still use terms such as "muy loco" when they should be saying "El Aguila freaked out" or something to that effect.

Also there are flights from Spain straight to "America" the continent? Yeah, Scott Lobdell will go far alright.
