Marvel Preview #8Issue(s): Marvel Preview #8 Review/plot: Additionally, looking at the cover you might expect a Legion of Monsters and a meeting between Morbius and Blade, but this book does not have that either. This issue does contain: Morbius fighting a monster (one of those 'British nobles have a monster in the family' type of stories)(the monster sure looks like Werewolf By Night, but it's not)... ...Blade fighting vampire children... ...and some generic (but perfectly entertaining) horror stories. Quality Rating: C Chronological Placement Considerations: Morbius is trapped in another dimension in Marvel Two-In-One #15 and doesn't return until Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #6, so this needs to take place prior to the Two-In-One issue. The MCP have Blade here before his return to the Tomb of Dracula series in Tomb of Dracula #41. References: N/A Crossover: N/A Continuity Insert? N My Reprint: N/A
CommentsMan-God was an unfinished adaptation of Philip Wylie's 1930 novel "Gladiator". Posted by: Mark Drummond | July 11, 2011 6:23 AM Russ Jones--assuming it was the same guy--was also involved with Warren's first issue of Creepy in 1964 and adapted some Universal monster movies to comics in "Famous Monsters of Filmland" just before that. He is(was?) a very mysterious figure with magazine and film writing claims that nobody has been able to verify yet. Posted by: Mark Drummond | August 21, 2011 10:18 PM I highly recommend the novel "Gladiator". Its a great read and you can see why the Superman creators basically swiped everything from it. It brilliantly answers the question "What would a superhuman do if he decides not to become a hero/villain?" Posted by: kveto | May 19, 2015 4:47 PM Comments are now closed. |
