Marvel Team-Up #67

Issue(s): Marvel Team-Up #67
Cover Date: Mar 78
Title: "Tigra, Tigra, burning bright!"
Credits:
Chris Claremont - Writer
John Byrne - Penciler
David Hunt - Inker

Review/plot:
Kraven the Hunter has captured and posessed Tigra...

...who proves to be a match for Spider-Man, but she eventually snaps out of his control and they team up to defeat him. Simple enough but done well by the team supreme of Claremont/Byrne.

Tigra's look is still evolving; she's looking a lot better than her Chillers appearance, but still not quite right.

Dave Hunt's inks look a bit sketchy in places, such as in the first panel here.

I dunno, the inks look great to me, and it's nice to see that Byrne's wow factor was present at this point even without Terry Austin.

It's understandable Spider-Man doesn't recognize that Tigra was the Cat, but I'm a little disappointed she doesn't mention their earlier team-up.

Shades of Kraven's Last Hunt: Spidey gets tranq-darted by Kraven and ultimately falls unconscious on a rooftop while scared he's going to die. We could even say he's remembering this story in later one when he's dismissively thinking Kraven's going to take him to a lair and talk his ear off. And in both cases, Kraven's plan involves pitting Spider-Man against an animal-person.

Byrne inked that panel.

GCD reports that Byrne inked page 10 of this issue, but the panel in question is on page 6. However I agree with VtCG because it sure looks to me like Byrne inked that page 6, one-page panel, and not any of the panels on page 10. The inking styles are distinctively different, and page 6 sure looks like the only Byrne-inked page, whereas all the other pages show a consistently different inking style. (BTW that is how Kraven is supposed to look when he's done properly IMO).
