Review/plot:
Spider-Man tries to save a scientist who was falling out of the sky, but he is too late. Before dying, the scientist tells Spider-Man and the Beast, who also shows up...
...that he was a former Secret Empire scientist that created the Griffin, and the Griffin is the one who killed him, seeking vengeance for what they did to him. Spidey and the Beast hunt down the Griffin and eventually defeat him.
The Griffin is bestial but still intelligent in this story. He can also control birds, which isn't something i was aware he could do.

It's at this same time that Bill Mantlo also gets control of Marvel Two-In-One. I'm guessing he was given these books because nobody else wanted them, considering his skimpy color comics resume at this point.
I for one have always enjoyed the back-and-forth banter and interplay when Spider-Man and the Beast are together. It's like they're the co-leaders of the "Cool Nerds Club".
